It is the end of a very memorable and wonderful Thanksgiving Day. When I looked around the two dining room tables this evening and saw my six wonderful children, daughter-in-law, and sons-in-laws, I truly was touched and thankful at the way our family has grown. This was a very special Thanksgiving because we had a first time visit from our latest brand new relative! Eliana Rose Renwick born on November 18, joined Mom Mom and her aunts and uncles and her four cousins, Ariana, Nora, Hannah and Michael for her first Thanksgiving! Her sleep deprived parents, my daughter Katie and her husband Dan were glad to join the gang for some food and fellowship. The cousins were fascinated watching Eliana for the first time.
After dinner, we watched some old family videos that I had recently transferred to DVD format. It was bittersweet watching the films of my adult children when they were young and seeing relatives that we loved who are no longer with us. But I can’t help but be grateful for all the great memories my family made growing up in a loving household often visited by grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousins who loved them.
There is such a vibrancy in the house when everyone gathers for holiday meals, and this year all the adult children brought delicious sides to go along with the turkey and mashed potatoes. After the grandchildren colored, played with playdough, and the toy kitchen and shopping basket, we all enjoyed our Thanksgiving meal.
Thank you Lord, for all the blessings over the years, especially the blessing of family. I am looking forward to making more memories with the special people you have put in my life.
