This past Spring has been a very active one for six of my grandchildren. They were participating in their local sports programs. Ari and Cami enjoyed playing soccer and scoring multiple goals for their teams. Nora played basketball and she helped her team win the championship. Michael, Ellie and Tommy played for machine pitch and t-ball for the Hughesville Little League. They helped their teams win a number of games and Michael and Ellie were selected as all stars to play in the all star game. It was exciting for Uncle Mike and me to attend two soccer games and several baseball games to watch them play. Next year we hope to make the longer trip up to see Nora play basketball. Watching them interact with their teammates and playing their positions is very entertaining. We like cheering them on and it reminds me of the good old days when their parents were involved in sports. Not only is it good exercise and a learning experience, it is also another opportunity to socialize with other children. Thanks to all the volunteer coaches who dedicate their time to teach the children and encourage them.
